Karate Canada is pleased to announce the recent nomination of Mr. Derek J. Ryan to the position of Technical Representative for the organization of karate competition at the PEI 2023 Canada Winter Games.  As a long-time member (and current VP) of Karate Canada’s Board of Directors, as Karate Newfoundland and Labrador’s former President, and as a seasoned karate instructor, coach, official and coach education facilitator, Mr. Ryan is no stranger to planning for quality competitive events, and brings a vast wealth of knowledge and expertise to this important role.  We wish him much success in this new role, and have every confidence in his leadership.

Karate Canada also wishes to very sincerely thank Mr. Gary Walsh for his important contribution as Mr. Ryan’s predecessor in this role over the last couple years.

The Canadian karate community is excited for the sport to make its historic debut on the Canada Games program in Prince Edward Island in the winter of 2023, and it was also recently confirmed that karate will be featured again on the program of the Yukon 2027 Canada Winter Games.
