Karate Canada Announces Board Elections

September 29, 2025

Karate Canada is pleased to announce the results of its recent Board of Directors elections and share key updates regarding leadership transitions.

We are proud to confirm that Craig Vokey, Chair of Karate Canada, has been re-elected by the Provincial and Territorial Sport Organizations (PTSO) Members. This continued support reflects a strong endorsement of Craig’s international-level leadership and vision. His re-election ensures continuity and stability as he embarks on a final three-year term at the helm of the organization.

Additionally, Blake Paterson (Ontario) will be returning for another three-year term in his capacity as Director at Large. His dedication and service to the board have been instrumental, and we look forward to his ongoing contributions.

Karate Canada is also pleased to welcome Philippa Arbiter (Nova Scotia) to the Board of Directors. A former Team Ontario athlete, Pippa brings valuable experience and fresh perspective to the table. She has been elected to serve a three-year term in her new role as Director.

Of special note, Karate Canada extends its heartfelt gratitude to Danny Morin (Quebec), who is stepping down from the Board after seven years of dedicated service, including six years in his pivotal role as Treasurer. Danny’s unwavering commitment and financial stewardship were instrumental in guiding Karate Canada through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and other complex financial landscapes. His contributions will be felt for years to come.

Returning Board Members include:

  • Athlete Director: Daniel Sanchez Griborio (Ontario)
  • Athlete Director: Claudia Laos-Loo (British Columbia)
  • Director: Katheryn Douglass (New Brunswick)
  • Director: Patricia Karl (Alberta)
  • Director: Andreas Kuntze (British Columbia)
  • Director: Yogen Mungroosing (Quebec)
  • Director: Oleg Raileanu (Ontario)
  • Director: Vanessa Restrepo (British Columbia)

We thank all members, new and returning, for their service and commitment to the growth and success of Karate in Canada.
