NATIONAL TEAM ATHLETES READY FOR 2018 SENIOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
This week, members of the Canadian Senior National Team Roster selected to compete in the 2018 WKF Senior World Championships will arrive in Madrid, Spain, for this prestigious event. The competition will take place from November 6th-11th, bringing together 1251 athletes from 140 different countries. Karate Canada will be represented by a total of 15 athletes, including 3 Para-Karate competitors. (To view the entire team roster, click here.) The team will be supported by Senior National Kumite Head Coach Mrs. Nassim Varasteh, National Kata Head Coach Mrs. Katarina Vadovicova, Senior National Kumite Assistant Coaches Mr. Roman Saltikov and Mr. Kraig Devlin, National Para-Karate Head Coach Mrs. Heather Fidyk as well as medical committee chair Mr. Gus Kandilas, Para-support person Ms. Janet Ross, Executive Director Mr. Olivier Pineau and Karate Canada President Mr. Craig Vokey. The Canadian delegation will also include six officials. This event, the largest WKF world championships ever to date, constitutes a very important step for our karateka on the road to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
