Karate Canada Announces Athlete Nominations to Team Canada for Junior Pan American Games in Paraguay

Karate Canada is proud to announce the nomination of six outstanding athletes to the Canadian Olympic Committee to represent Team Canada at the Junior Pan American Games, taking place in Asuncion, Paraguay, from August 21 to 23, 2025.

The athletes nominated are:

  • Ella Crowle
  • Melody Monfiston
  • Maria Ouyahia
  • Victoria Tam
  • Lê Vinh Bricteaux
  • Louis-Félix Deschamps

These athletes have earned their nominations through exceptional performance at national and international competitions, demonstrating elite skill, discipline, and sportsmanship. Their selection reflects the depth of emerging talent in Canadian karate, highlighting the nation’s growing presence on the continental and world stages. Athletes qualified by placing in the top 8 of the Junior Pan-Am Games qualifier at the 2024 Junior Pan Am Championships in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

“We are incredibly proud of these young athletes who will represent Canada with dedication and excellence,” said Chris Bright, Executive Director of Karate Canada. “Their hard work, determination, and passion for the sport have brought them to this prestigious opportunity, and we are confident they will make Canada proud in Asuncion.”

Rodney Hobson, Team Leader for the Junior Pan American Games delegation, added: “This group of athletes is not only technically strong, but also united in their commitment to representing Canada with integrity and pride. We’ve seen tremendous growth from each of them throughout the season, and I’m confident they will rise to the challenge on the international stage.”

The Junior Pan American Games provide an important development platform for young athletes across the Americas, offering high-level competition and exposure to the Olympic pathway. Featuring more than 4,000 athletes in 42 disciplines, this event also provides young athletes with the opportunity to compete in a multi-sport, Major Games environment. Karate Canada is committed to nurturing the next generation of elite karateka and supporting their pursuit of excellence at every level.
