Please note that in light of the announcement that individual kata competition will be included in the program of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Sport Canada’s Athlete Assistance Program department has recently confirmed that athletes will now be eligible for nomination towards AAP (Carding) support on the basis of their performances in individual kata divisions, as of the next Carding cycle (2017-2018). Karate Canada is therefore pleased to release an updated version of the 2017-2018 Carding Criteria which reflects this important change, and allows for equitable selection of kata and kumite athletes for Carding nominations as of 2017.
