Eight Athletes Nominated for Cards During the 2017-2018 Cycle

Following a recently announced increase in its Card quota by Sport Canada’s Athlete Assistance Program (AAP)department (from the equivalent of 4 full Cards to the equivalent, now, of 6 full Cards, mainly in light of the inclusion of both kata and kumite disciplines in the program of the 2020 Olympic Games), Karate Canada is pleased to announce that the following 8 Senior National Team Roster athletes have been nominated and approved for Carding (AAP) support in the 2017-2018 cycle (May 1st 2017 to April 30th 2018), in accordance with published Criteria and in light of these athletes’ respective performances:

  • Rita Ngo: SR1 Card
  • Kenneth Lee: C1 Card
  • Daniel Gaysinsky: C1 Card
  • Kathryn Campbell: SR Card
  • Camélie Boisvenue: SR Card
  • Nicolas Bisson: D (Development) Card
  • Alexandre Benjamin Rivest: D (Development) Card
  • Nicholas Patrick Rivest: D (Development) Card

This is the highest number of athletes to be approved for Carding at any given time in Karate Canada’s history. We wish to sincerely congratulate all 8 newly Carded (or re-Carded) athletes, and wish them the very best of luck in the new competitive season.
