Strong Canadian Representation at Okinawa Open Championships

November 23, 2017

Several Canadian athletes, Coaches and Officials are currently in Okinawa, Japan, in order to take part in the upcoming 2017 Okinawa Open WKF Karate-1 Series A Championships (Nov 25-26). Team 2020 program-targeted kata athlete Kenneth Lee and National Team Kata Head Coach Mrs. Katarina Vadovicova are traveling to this event with support from Karate Canada. They are joined by seven fellow Senior National Team Roster (kata and kumite) athletes and by Senior National Team Kumite Head Coach Mrs. Nassim Varasteh, all traveling to and competing in this event of their own initiative. The Chair of Karate Canada’s Officials Committee Mr. Yaro Tarana is also in Okinawa to officiate at this prestigious international event, as is fellow Canadian and international official Mr. Trevor Walmsley. We salute all these participants’ dedication, and wish the very best of luck to all Canadians participating in this event!
