KARATE AT PAN AM GAMES START AUGUST 9

The Karate events at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru will start Friday August 9th. Four Canadian athletes have been selected and are getting ready to hit the mats. Rita Ha Thi Ngo will be the first (women individual kata) and will compete Friday. The three other athletes, Kate Campbell (women kumite -55kg), Daniel Gaysinsky (men kumite +84kg) and Haya Jumaa (women kumite -61kg) are all scheduled for Saturday, August 10th.

Accompanying our athletes are coaches Nassim Varasteh and Roman Saltikov in kumite as well as Pam Ross in kata. Mr. Yaro Tarana, Karate Canada Officials’ Committee Chair will also be present and officiate in his 4th Pan Am Games. Mr. Craig Vokey, Karate Canada President, made the trip as well and will be there to cheer our athletes!
