Karate Canada is pleased to announce its 2026 Board of Directors following its recent Annual Meeting and board elections.

We are proud to confirm that Daniel Sanchez Griborio (Ontario), Athlete Director, and Patricia Karl (Alberta), Director, have been re-elected by the Provincial and Territorial Sport Organization (PTSO) Members to new three-year terms. Their re-election reflects the Members’ confidence in their leadership and ensures valuable continuity around the board table.

The Board of Directors has also elected two of its members to executive roles. Andreas Kuntze (British Columbia) will serve as Vice Chair, and Blake Paterson (Ontario) will take on the role of Treasurer.

Of special note, Karate Canada extends its sincere gratitude to Oleg Raileanu (Ontario), who steps down from the Board after proudly serving the final year of his last term.

“On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Oleg for his years of dedicated service to Karate Canada,” said Craig Vokey, Chair of Karate Canada. “Oleg brought deep governance expertise to our table and a genuine commitment to building a thriving karate system in Canada. His thoughtful leadership has strengthened this organization, and his contributions will continue to benefit our athletes, coaches, officials and members for years to come.”

Vokey also thanked the PTSO Members for their continued trust. “I’d like to thank our PTSO Members for re-electing Daniel and Patricia to new three-year terms. Their experience, and in Daniel’s case the athlete voice he brings, are vital to good decision-making at the board level.”

“I’m proud of the governance board we have in place for 2026,” Vokey added. “As a Board, we look forward to working together with our Executive Director, Chris Bright, and our committed operational staff, as well as the wonderful volunteer PTSO leadership across the country, to continue growing and strengthening karate in Canada.”
