CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: ATHLETE COUNCIL

Karate Canada is looking for athletes to become members of it’s first Athlete Council.

The Athlete Council is a committee of Karate Canada that is representative of athletes who have represented Canada internationally on behalf of KC in the two major disciplines (Kata & Kumite) over the past three years. All Senior National Team Athletes, Para-National Team Athletes, U21 National Team Athletes, and recently retired National Team Athletes are eligible. Discipline specific positions with staggered term lengths are included to create a diverse and inclusive collective of National Team Athletes. Read the Terms of Reference for all the information including eligibility criteria, nomination procedures, voting, mandate, etc.

The main role of the Council will be to ensure that high-performance and national team athletes are properly represented in KC, including their interests, concerns, and perspectives.

Nominations will be accepted until Wednesday, June 17th and voting shall be done over the week of June 29th. Athletes eligible to nominate and vote for the Athlete Council have been contacted via email with all the details.
