Karate Canada is excited to return to the province of Quebec for both National Championships in 2027, and Karate Canada is proud to once again partner with Karate Quebec (KQ) to bring the sport’s top competitions to two of the province’s leading cities.

Having successfully hosted the most recent National Championships alongside Karate BC (KBC), Karate Nova Scotia (KNS), and Karate Alberta (KA), Karate Canada knows that Karate Quebec will deliver the same high-energy standard for the 2027 season — welcoming the U21/Senior National Championships to Gatineau in January, and the Junior & U21/Senior (Phase I) National Championships to Montreal in May.

As Host Organizing Committee, Karate Canada and Karate Quebec look forward to welcoming approximately 250 athletes to Gatineau and well over 600 athletes to Montreal. Montreal will also see upwards of 70 coaches and 70 referees, while Gatineau can expect 40 coaches and 40 referees, all converging to support delegates from across the country.

Karate Quebec has shown terrific leadership through previous co-hosted events, and its President, François Désormeaux, and Director General, Karine Fournier, consistently bring a passionate team of volunteers to help deliver quality events for all delegates.

Karate Canada gratefully acknowledges the support of the Government of Canada, and looks forward to working with the Province of Quebec, the Ville de Gatineau, Tourisme Outaouais, the Ministère de l’Éducation du Québec, the City of Montréal, and Tourisme Montréal in the delivery of these two landmark events.

U21 & Senior National Championships

Junior,  U21 & Senior (Phase I) National Championships

Karate Canada will introduce the approved National Championship and selection model beginning in 2027. The model combines the national event calendar while preserving a performance-based pathway for U21 and Senior athletes. It is designed to improve calendar alignment, reduce cumulative travel and delivery costs, support athlete duty of care, and provide a transparent progression from national competition to international team selection.

Important: 2027 is a transition year. The U21 and Senior event in the third week of January 2027 will complete the existing 2026/27 selection cycle. The new two-phase model begins with the combined National Championships in May 2027 and culminates with the first Phase 2 National Championships in February 2028.
