KARATE CANADA STATEMENT REGARDING THE CBC/RADIO-CANADA COVERAGE
February 12, 2019
The recent headlines in regard to athlete safety in Canadian Amateur Sport are difficult to read. It is therefore important to meet this challenge head-on. The Canadian sport system has been engaged in addressing these issues head-on and we expect further formal guidance soon. In the meantime, Karate Canada has been proactively addressing safety for our most vulnerable members. In 2018, Karate Canada endorsed both the Responsible Coaching Movement and the You Can Play initiatives. Karate Canada also has taken a firm stance against any form of bullying and harassment within our sport. Karate Canada will continue to work with the Canadian sport community to address these concerns and will also continue to move forward on its own to ensure a safe and secure environment for all of its members.
