Senior National Team Athletes Ready for 2016 Senior World Championships

Next week, members of the Canadian Senior National Team Roster members selected to compete in the 2016 WKF Senior World Championships will arrive in Linz, Austria for this prestigious event. The competition will take place from September 26th-30th, bringing together 1238 athletes from 118 different countries. Karate Canada will be represented by a total of 18 athletes, including 3 Para-Karate competitors. (To view the entire team roster, click here.) The team will be supported by Senior National Kumite Head Coach Ms. Nassim Varasteh, Senior National Kumite Assistant Coach Mr. Roman Saltikov, National Kata Coach Katarina Vadovicova, National Para-Karate Head Coach Ms. Heather Fidyk (who will be assisted by Junior National Kumite Head Coach Mr. Denis Beaudoin), as well as medical support staff member Ms. Kyra Lindsay-Ng, and Karate Canada President Mr. Craig Vokey. The Canadian delegation will also include eight officials. This event, the largest WKF world championships ever to date, constitutes a very important step for our karateka on the road to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
